US tech giant Amazon will invest £8 billion ($10.5 billion) in the UK over the next five years, creating thousands of jobs through its web services division, the company and the government have announced.
The investment, Amazon says, will help build, operate and maintain data centres in the UK, could contribute £14bn to the country’s GDP and create more than 14,000 jobs a year across the supply chain.
