European countries should increase spending on their own security. This call was made by British Finance Minister Jeremy Hunt, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.

According to the minister, European countries must realize that they are “actors” on the world stage along with the United States, and not “observers.” “The United States’ request that Europe contribute more to its own defense is reasonable,” he said.
In March, British Defense Minister Grant Shapps announced the need to increase the kingdom’s defense spending from 2.3% to 3% of the country’s GDP. Hunt previously supported increasing defense spending to 2.5% of the kingdom’s GDP, but stressed that this would only be done when economic conditions allowed.
