London: This time the election in Britain was very special for Indians. This time 29 people of Indian origin have become MPs. Out of these, the Labour Party has the highest number of members, which is 19. Out of these, 12 have become MPs for the first time. A record 12 MPs have been elected from the Sikh community including 6 women. All the members of the Sikh community are from the Labour Party. 9 members have been elected for the first time, two have become MP for the third consecutive time and one for the second time. British Sikh MP Preet Kaur Gill defeated Conservative Party candidate Ashvir Sangha. Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi became MP for the third consecutive time. Labor Party

  • Preet Kaur Gill: She retained the Birmingham Edgbaston seat. She was born in Birmingham. Both parents were Indian. Her father was the president of Britain’s first gurdwara, Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Smethwick.

New members of the Labor Party
