UK inflation at highest level since 1980 Food prices rose 14.6 percent in the year to September. The Ministry of Statistics revealed that the prices of meat, bread, milk and eggs have jumped. Inflation of consumer goods reached 10.1 percent. This is the highest rate since 1982.
The rise in prices has put the government in further crisis after the announcement of the economic policy. The opposition parties are demanding that the government should be ready to provide assistance to the most economically backward families. However, the new finance minister, Jeremy Hunt, backtracked on Liz’s announcement of a pension hike.
