The Royal Mint, la British Royal Mintlaunched this Friday a ⁢collection of‌ coins five pounds in honor of Paul McCartneycelebrating the career⁤ of the former member of The Beatles and global music icon.

“It’s a great ‍honor,” ‍said the famous 82-year-old musician​ and composer, who worked with the Royal ‌Mint on the design ​of these ​collectible coins.

The pieces feature his colorful “magic ⁣piano” and also⁢ references to his career, including piano notes chosen⁣ personally by him, a violin, a bass guitar, and the Wings‌ logo.

Along with being a⁤ member of The Beatles and Wings, Paul McCartney‌ sold more ‌than 100 ‌million solo albums.

“I could never have expected something like​ this when​ I was a child,” he said, referring to the ​coin in‌ his honor.

Recently, Paul McCartney completed the Latin American leg of his Got Back tour, in which ⁢he played ⁤to more than‍ 500,000 people in⁤ eight countries.

The ⁢tour has just begun‌ its European leg, on Wednesday and Thursday in Paris, completing the⁤ year ⁢with performances in Madrid, Manchester and london.

“Our pieces pay tribute to icons ‌and events from ‍british history, so it was vital ⁢that ⁣Paul McCartney’s remarkable musical career ⁤was celebrated on an official UK coin,” said Rebecca Morgan, director of commemorative coins at Royal Mint.

“What makes this piece ⁤so special⁣ is that Paul was ⁤involved ​in ⁢the entire design process.⁢ “The⁤ piece celebrates various elements of his solo career, and we hope his ⁢fans enjoy those ​references,” he added.

These limited edition pieces will be ​sold on the Royal Mint website​ in various versions,⁣ with a starting price of⁣ 15.50 pounds (around 400 Mexican pesos).
