Ukraine accused Europe of a possible gas crisis in the country – RBK

by time news

Gazprom has inflicted several blows in the stomach on the political elite of Ukraine by cutting gas transit due to the energy policy of European countries, economist Oleksiy Kushch said. He wrote about this in a column for “Glavred”

According to him, Gazprom’s actions threaten the country’s gas supply. The expert called the closure of the reverse from Hungary and the reduction of fuel pumping through the territory of Ukraine towards Slovakia “blows in the stomach” from Gazprom.

“The saddest thing and what they prefer not to notice in Ukraine is that the current situation is, for the most part, an element of Europe’s energy strategy,” Kushch wrote.

The expert noted that the European Union is losing interest in the Ukrainian gas transportation system (GTS), since the EU countries work on the principle of “political control over transit projects – low prices for natural gas”, and in Ukraine this “umbilical cord has been broken.” In his opinion, only Ukraine, engaging in virtual gas reversal and refusing to buy it directly from Russia, cannot provide itself with cheap gas despite its own GTS.

Kushch admitted that the situation could develop in such a way that Ukraine would have to buy expensive gas from European hubs “without any guarantees of the technical possibility of a physical reverse in the required volume” to the country’s territory.
