The Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine has agreed with the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs of Montenegro on the liberalization of all freight transport between the countries from June 1, 2024. This was reported on the website of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.

“More than 10 years ago, an agreement on road transport between our countries was signed, during which time trade turnover between Ukraine and Montenegro increased sevenfold. This is confirmation that the liberalization of freight transport, that is, the possibility of transportation without special permits, will benefit both countries “, noted the head of the Ukrainian department, Alexander Kubrakov.

In addition to freight transport, the ministry is working on the development of regular and irregular bus services with Montenegro, “the opening of the first regular route from Kyiv to Budva is expected soon.” It is noted that the negotiations discussed the issue of non-parity in passenger transportation by Ukrainian companies. The parties agreed that if the Montenegrin carrier refuses to carry out the route, the Ukrainian company can service it independently.

The ministry said that liberalization of freight transport is now in effect with 36 countries, including EU countries. Last year, relevant agreements were concluded with Norway, North Macedonia and extended with Moldova and Turkey.
