According to Ukrainian sources, three people were killed in a Russian attack on a lifeboat in the flooded areas. Ten other people were injured, according to the governor of the Kherson region, Olexandr Prokudin, on Telegram.
The boat wanted to bring people from flooded parts of the occupation areas to the Ukrainian-controlled city of Cherson. Among the dead was a 74-year-old man who tried to protect a woman and was hit in the back. Prokudin’s report did not reveal how Russian troops attacked the boat. The head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, had previously reported the incident.
The reports cannot be independently verified. Russia denies allegations of targeting civilians. Russia and Ukraine have blamed each other for the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam and have also accused each other of shelling evacuation areas.
