The foreign minister said so Luigi Di Maioat a press conference with his counterpart Sergey Lavrov at the end of the bilateral meeting in Moscow, responding to those who asked him how the government of Rome will behave in the event of advancement of the European sanctions on the crisis in Ukraine. Di Maio specified that “weapons must leave room for diplomacy”. “Diplomacy and common sense must necessarily prevail, the main way to avoid a conflict that could generate devastating consequences for the entire continent”, added Di Maio, underlining that “peace is the guideline that we must continue to follow”.
