In this context, US National Security Adviser Anthony Blinken said, “It is unbelievable that Russian President Vladimir Putin did not make the final decision on the invasion of Ukraine. We expect Putin to carry out the attack without any prior notice.”
John Kirby, head of the Pentagon’s U.S. military headquarters, said: “US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin will travel to Europe on Tuesday for consultations with NATO headquarters in Belgium, where he is scheduled to station 3,000 U.S. troops. We are not prepared for the fact that Russia has not even made a final decision on the invasion of Ukraine. An attack could take place at any time. “
“There are no plans to withdraw US troops from the Russian border at this time. However, we are ready for diplomatic talks. The possibility of a negotiated settlement remains open,” he said.
The U.S. embassy in Ukraine has been relocated from the capital, Kiev, to Lviv due to the concentration of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine. He said the remaining Americans in Ukraine want to return to the country.
