The first recruitment center for Ukrainians willing to join the Ukrainian army was opened at the consulate of Ukraine in the Polish city of Lublin, Ukrinform reported, citing the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

“The first center for the recruitment of military personnel was opened at the consulate of Ukraine in Lublin. The working hours are from 09:00 to 17:00 every day without breaks. A military medical commission works on site. Volunteers undergo training in a facility provided by the Polish side .Ukraine provides the uniforms and equipment, and Poland provides the weapons and equipment,” the ministry said in a statement.

It also notes that the process includes signing a contract, a 35-day training period at a local base and additional training at NATO bases in Europe.

Ukrainians can apply through the official website or at the consulates and embassies of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense notes.

The statement also said that the “Ukrainian Legion” is the first volunteer unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine formed by Ukrainians living abroad. Recruits join the army voluntarily by signing a contract. The Legion has modern equipment and weapons that provide high combat capabilities and effectiveness in battle. The unit was formed on the territory of Poland. Volunteers are trained by NATO instructors on the territory of partner countries.

On July 8, an agreement was signed in Warsaw, providing for the creation of the “Ukrainian Legion” – a new volunteer unit on the territory of Poland, writes BTA.
