Ukraine war as a driver of transformation? How SAP boss Klein wants to advance the cloud business

by time news

Düsseldorf SAP boss Christian Klein sees the Ukraine war as a transformation driver. He now wants to consistently expand the faltering cloud business. “If you look back, you might have been able to rely more consistently on the cloud at an early stage,” says Klein in the Handelsblatt Disrupt podcast with editor-in-chief Sebastian Matthes.

At 39, Klein was the youngest CEO in the Dax. What does it mean to come into such a position at such a young age? How do you manage more than 100,000 employees? And what are the consequences of the transformation to the cloud for a technology company?

The conversation goes far beyond the technological challenges of the group. Klein also talks about the geopolitical upheavals resulting from the Ukraine war, announces that he will employ Ukrainian refugees in Germany and reveals the role mentors played in his career.

Finally, he gives a career tip: “You should never think that you already know everything,” he says. “Having this hunger, this passion, always wanting to continue your education” is very important, especially in his industry.
