Kirill Budanov, head of the Information Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, said on the 14th (local time) that North Korea’s large-scale military support to Russia, including missiles and shells, is currently the biggest threat to his country.

According to AFP and Radio Free Europe, Information Director Budanov attended a meeting in Kiev that day and said that Russia’s military support to North Korea was causing the greatest damage to Ukraine, adding that “our biggest problems come from North Korea among our Russian allies.”

Director General Budanov said that North Korea’s large-scale supply of military supplies to Russia is having a real impact on its combat capabilities.

Additionally, General Budanov added that Russia’s increased production of guided bombs is also a serious problem for Ukrainian forces on the battlefield.

The remarks came shortly after North Korean State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong-un told Russian Security Secretary Sergei Shoigu during his surprise visit to North Korea that he would strengthen ties with Russia.

Ukraine is said to be closely watching North Korea’s arms transfer to Russia and feeling the impact it is having on the war situation.

General Budanov expressed concern that the arms transfers between North Korea and Russia were directly related to the battlefield, saying, “North Korea is providing a huge amount of artillery shells, which are very important for Russian military power.”

The United States and Ukraine see Kim Jong-un as helping Russia fight Ukraine by providing Russia with military supplies, including missiles and artillery shells, in exchange for necessary economic and military technical assistance.
