Ukraine will stop the transit of Russian oil and gas to Europe at the end of the year /

In an interview with the “Novini.Live” broadcasting organization, Podoliak said that the current contract expires at the end of the year, and although the contract cannot be terminated unilaterally, “there is no doubt that it will all end on January 1, 2025”.

Ukraine is ready to transport gas to Europe from Central Asian countries or Azerbaijan, but not from Russia, because it is essential for Ukraine to deprive Russia of sources of income from the sale of raw materials after it attacked its neighbor more than two years ago.

The contract for the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine to Europe, concluded between the Russian state-controlled company “Gazprom” and the Ukrainian state company “Naftogaz”, expires on December 31.

Despite the fact that Russia launched a full-scale war in Ukraine in February 2022, Kyiv has complied with the terms of this agreement – partly at the insistence of its European neighbors, especially Hungary.

However, the Ukrainian government has repeatedly stated that this contract will not be extended.
