The war in Europe: Against the background of the reports of continued arms shipments from Iran to the Russian army, officials in Ukraine stated that the aid of the Islamic Republic to Moscow, during the war, should convince Israel to abandon the position of withholding military aid to Kiev. Meanwhile, the ambassador of Ukraine in Israel, Yevgen Korneychuk said that he met with the American ambassador in Israel, Tom Neidesand asked him to try and convince Israel to provide military support to Kiev, as he published today (Sunday) on The Hill website.

According to the publication, officials in Ukraine want to continue pressuring the Biden administration, to increase the pressure on Israel, which condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine and provided humanitarian aid, but, however, refrained from assisting militarily. The sources also said that the Biden administration should play a role in the pressure campaign on Israel. This is because, according to the ambassador of Ukraine in Israel, “the USA is the only country that Israel listens to.” In addition, Kornichuk said that “relations with Israel have progressed in recent weeks on several technical issues related to defense. Including advanced warning systems that help warn of missile attacks.”

It was also reported that at Kornichuk’s meeting with the American ambassador in Israel, they discussed the “various means of support”. According to him, “We need to change the main trend that makes Israel’s position different from the rest of the democratic world, and have more technical and military cooperation.” In addition, the Ukrainian ambassador stated that he asked the Maiden administration to check how Israel is complying with the sanctions imposed by the Western countries on Russia.

The Ukrainian ambassador Israel also referred to the elections in Israel, saying that “this is the fifth time in four years. The political instability is a key factor in the ability to pressure the government to obtain anti-missile defense equipment and air defense systems for Kyiv.”

As I recall, a senior Ukrainian official claimed last Monday, in the New York Times newspaper, that Israel provides Ukraine with intelligence information necessary to attack Iranian drones that are launched into its territory by Russia. The report does not specify what information was provided to the Ukrainian forces, but the official states that after an attack The UAVs over Kyiv, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kolba, appealed to Israel to receive weapons for air defense. Kolba’s request was rejected by Gantz, this due to Jerusalem’s dependence on Moscow as far as activities against Iranian armaments on Syrian soil are concerned.
