Ukrainian Ambassador outraged by Germany’s reaction to drone strike in Donbass :: Politics :: RBC

Germany should “put Moscow in its place” instead of expressing concern about the strike by a Ukrainian drone on the positions of the self-proclaimed LPR and DPR in Donbass. This opinion was voiced by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andriy Melnyk, his words were reported by the newspaper Bild.

In a conversation with the newspaper, Melnyk noted that Ukraine has the right to self-defense if its territory is “bombarded by heavy Russian weapons day and night while civilians and soldiers are killed,” in connection with which Kiev is forced to categorically reject the German Foreign Ministry’s statement of concern about the situation.

The Ukrainian authorities, however, are urging Germany instead to make more efforts as a mediator to convene a Normandy format summit in Berlin and Moscow in place, the diplomat said.

The German government, Bild reports, earlier called on Ukraine and Russia to de-escalate, recalling that the use of foreign drones, according to the Minsk agreements, in the ceasefire zone is allowed only for the OSCE.
