“In order to reduce the threat, it was decided to prohibit the installation and use of Telegram on the service devices of employees of state institutions, military personnel, employees of the security and defense sector, as well as companies – critical infrastructure operators,” the council said in a statement.

It is indicated that the exception will be only those persons for whom the use of “Telegram” is part of their official duties.

The head of the Main Intelligence Department (HUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirillo Budanov, stated that the Russian security services have access to the personal correspondence of Telegram users, even deleted messages, as well as their personal data.

“I have always supported and still support freedom of speech, but the issue of Telegram is not about freedom of speech, but about national security,” he emphasized.

Representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the General Staff say that the enemy is actively using “Telegram” for cyber attacks, spreading phishing and malicious software, determining the geographic location of users, and correcting missile strikes.
