The Ukrainian filmmaker and Sakharov Prize winner Oleh Sentsov said he was injured at the front. On Sunday he published a corresponding Facebook post. The Kyiv Independent also reported.

“I was lucky, only minor bruises and another ruptured nasal septum.” He didn’t have to go to the hospital. “Every fight seems harder than the last, but this one really was.”

Senzow had already been injured once in July, when he was hospitalized with a splinter injury.

Sentsov volunteered at the beginning of the Russian war of aggression. His second feature film “Rhino” was released in German cinemas at the end of last year. At that time, in an interview with the Berliner Zeitung, he also spoke about his decision to become a soldier.

Sentsov, who was born in Crimea, was arrested there in 2014 after the Russian annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula. A year later he was sentenced to 20 years in prison in Russia for planning terrorist attacks. He was also accused of membership in the ultranational Ukrainian movement “Right Sector”.

Sentsov denied all allegations and reported torture that the authorities used to try to force a confession from him. Internationally he was considered a political prisoner. He was released in 2019 as part of a prisoner exchange.
