The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said today that “the armed forces of Ukraine are trying to break through the border at the Belgorod region, the situation is difficult, but it is under control”, TASS reported, referring to his post in “Telegram”.

“There is information that the enemy is trying to break through the border of the Belgorod Region,” Gladkov wrote. “Our military is taking planned action. Please remain calm and trust only official sources of information,” he added.

Ukrainian forces are trying to break through the Russian border in the southern Belgorod region and the fighting continues, the Russian channel “Mash Telegram” also reported, quoted by Reuters.

According to the channel, about 500 Ukrainian servicemen attacked two checkpoints near the border settlements of Nekhoteevka and Shebekino in the Belgorod region, and battles are taking place in both areas, BTA writes.

“Mash Telegram” reported that nearly 200 Ukrainian soldiers with infantry tried to cross the border at Nekhoteevka and were fired upon by Russian artillery. The Russian channel added that around 300 Ukrainian servicemen also attacked the other checkpoint in Shebekino.

According to another Russian news channel on Telegram, Shot (SHOT), Ukrainian forces were pushed out of Nekhoteevka after suffering losses. “Shot” reported that there were no clashes in Shebekino.

Belgorod Oblast borders Kursk Oblast, where Ukrainian troops seized Russian territory after making a lightning incursion into the region on August 6.
