Things are seething in the EPP Group. The trigger is a letter to Commission President Ursula van der Leyen. In it, Conservative MEPs are asking her to water down EU environmental regulations. But not all conservatives want that.
In a letter to Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, EPP parliamentarians advocate at least temporarily overriding two core elements of the jointly agreed agricultural strategy “Farm to Fork”. Specifically, it is about the obligation to rotate crops and, on the other hand, about the lifting of set-aside.
The latter is already watered down to the extent that the Commission has given Member States the freedom to press the pause button on set-aside agricultural land.
