The ’Korea Trusted Innovation Awards’, hosted by JoongAng Ilbo and Forbes Korea and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and JTBC, is an award given to public institutions and companies that have contributed to improving the national economy by creating a new paradigm through creative innovation and challenge. Uljin-gun received high praise for leading the paradigm of Korea’s nuclear hydrogen industry, presenting solutions to overcome the crisis of local extinction, and contributing to enhancing national competitiveness.
Uljin-gun judged the nuclear hydrogen industry, which produces hydrogen by utilizing the abundant power of the world’s 10 nuclear power plants, as a future growth engine and preemptively proposed the creation of a national industrial complex to the government, and signed a business agreement with a leading domestic anchor company to establish a national industrial complex.We quickly secured companies to move into the area and carried out active attraction activities to strengthen our competitiveness as a national industrial complex candidate site, such as holding policy forums and persuading the government and the National Assembly.
As a result, last june, it became the first new national industrial complex candidate site to be exempted from the preliminary feasibility study. This was confirmed as a national policy project by the government recognizing that the Uljin nuclear Hydrogen National Industrial Complex has sufficient demand for occupancy and has a significant economic ripple effect,and the speed of industrial complex construction is expected to accelerate further.
In addition, through the hydrogen city development project, which was selected for the first time at the county level last September, we plan to lead Korea’s carbon neutrality by establishing a virtuous cycle system that utilizes locally produced hydrogen in daily life.
Uljin-gun will establish itself as a clean energy hub in Korea where jobs are abundant and people gather through the complementary effects of the nuclear hydrogen national industrial complex and the hydrogen city development project.
At the same time, through a major transformation of basic industries such as agriculture, forestry, and fishing, a sustainable local economic structure is being created in which all residents are guaranteed stable profits and jobs.

The Dream Graduation Ceremony is an event to congratulate young people who have received recognition for their academic ability through the qualification exam or entered college or employment after interrupting their studies and to cheer for their new beginnings.
At this graduation ceremony,Ms. Kim ** (18,female) from the Uljin-gun Out-of-School Youth Support Center was honored with the Gyeongbuk Provincial Superintendent of Education Award and said,“When I didn’t know what to do after leaving school,I received a lot of help from Uljin-gun Dream.” “I am grateful that I was able to pass the qualification exam and go on to college,” he said.
Uljin County Mayor Son Byeong-bok encouraged out-of-school youth to make a new start, saying, “We will give a lot of attention and effort to help out-of-school youth develop their talents and dreams and grow into healthy members of society.”
On November 27th,Uljin-gun conducted the ‘I Say Hello First,Start of Small Change Campaign’ in the downtown area of Uljin-eup. In this campaign, construction department employees took the lead and revitalized the downtown area of Uljin-eup.
The ‘Say Greetings First Campaign’ aims to maximize bonds with residents through continuous implementation every month. Uljin-gun plans to improve relationships and promote harmony among local residents through this.
