Embarrassing presences. While two former treasurers of a micro-party close to the National Rally – Axel Loustau and Olivier Duguet – participated in the ultra-right demonstration in the streets of Paris on Saturday, the patron saint of RN deputies has since defended herself from any proximity with his former colleagues. “They are not my relatives”, made a point of clarifying this Tuesday the former candidate for the presidential election questioned at the microphone of South Radio.

“All the people who, at one time or another in their existence and in the 50 years of the existence of the National Front, have had the responsibility of accountants or even elected officials, are not part of my relatives”, a- she continued.

In the ranks of this demonstration, which aroused strong criticism, particularly on the left, appeared Axel Loustau and Olivier Duguet. The two men were active together in the Groupement union defense (GUD) in the 1990s before joining the micro-party Jeanne, created by relatives of Marine Le Pen in 2010.

In detail, Axel Lousteau was treasurer of Jeanne for ten years (2012-2022), while being regional councilor for Île-de-France from 2015 to 2021. Finally, he joined the financial unit of the campaign President of Marine Le Pen during her candidacy in 2017. For his part, Olivier Duguet, sentenced in 2012 for fraud, was treasurer and deputy treasurer of the same micro-party.

Several signs of GUD affiliation

“We have to stop with (proximity charges). This is the extreme left method used by Mediapart, whereby we all end up being close to each other by capillarity. We have to stop with that, ”said Marine Le Pen again on Tuesday.

Saturday’s ultra-right demonstration had not been banned, which drew strong criticism, leading the police headquarters to justify themselves. In total, more than 500 activists, according to the authorities, demonstrated in the capital to celebrate the 29th anniversary of the death of a far-right activist, Sébastien Deyzieu, who died accidentally in 1994.

Dressed in black and often masked, the demonstrators displayed black flags marked with the Celtic cross and chanted “Europe youth revolution”, the slogan of the GUD. However, the organization seemed to have disappeared from the radar for years. Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne said she herself was shocked by the images of the demonstration.
