The opera has its world premiere at the Greek Theater in Syracuse (until 2 July)

The story of Odysseus told through an intense dialogue between theatre, music and dance. «Ulisse, l’ultima Odissea», the show created and directed by Giuliano Peparini makes its world premiere at the Greek Theater in Syracuse on 29 June. The original creation of the world-famous director, choreographer and artistic director will close the 58th season of classical performances produced by the INDA Foundation and will remain on stage in Syracuse until 2 July to then be presented in Italian theatres, from Pompeii to Ostia Antica and Milan.

Set in an airport, the show sees almost 100 artists on stage, to the tune of the unmistakable sound of the folk-rock group Reuben and the Dark, in an unprecedented mix of sounds and choreography.

“The Odyssey is one of the most emotional texts of our canon – are the words of the director -, it is a text that condenses all the most intense feelings: the desperate attachment to life, overwhelming hatred and unconditional love, unbridled passion and cold calculation, fear and pain of loss, nostalgia and thirst for knowledge. In our show, we will make all these emotions live and burst forth, in the voices of the interpreters and in the bodies of our performers. In addition to distant or stationary journeys, by choosing to deal with the theme of Ulysses, this show also speaks of our time, and of us: it stages a man who is lost and is looking for his way home again. The libretto of the opera is by the Greek scholar Francesco Morosi.
