CONAKRY, October 30, 2023 – In terms of human rights, the constant increase in the number of ratifications, consequently in the number of reports to be submitted by States parties, in the number of individual complaints, as well as the increase in the number mandates for special procedures addressed accordingly by the countries, are all elements which lead to a multiplication of the requirements which the State party must meet.

The Republic of Guinea has chosen the interministerial mechanism for reporting and monitoring recommendations. In September 2021, following the advent of the National Council for Rally and Development (CNRD), a new government structure was put in place. This recomposition necessarily led to the adaptation of the Mechanism to the new ministerial departments.

This is how the Prime Minister, Head of Government, signed a new decree establishing the responsibilities and operation of the National Mechanism for reporting and monitoring recommendations, taking into account the new government structure.

Furthermore, an inventory of reports due by Guinea to the various treaty bodies showed that Guinea was late in submitting at least 20 reports.

With a view to strengthening the capacities of these new members of the mechanism and initiating a process of progressive updating of Guinea in terms of submitting reports, UN Human Rights is organizing training, from October 31 to November 1 2023, members of the national mechanism for reporting and monitoring recommendations on human rights and report writing technique.

The general objective of this workshop is to contribute to building the capacities of members of the national mechanism for reporting and monitoring human rights recommendations and to establishing a road map.
