jpnn.com – JAKARTA – Golkar Party Chairman Airlangga Hartarto did not comment much on President Jokowi’s neutrality in the 2024 elections, which was discussed at the UN Human Rights Committee Session.

According to Airlangga, this is a normal thing.

He said that almost all presidents have parties as their political vehicles.

“There was no response. However, almost all presidents have parties. Lee Kuan Yew has the PAP Party. Joe Biden is from the Democrats. So, that’s normal. Pak Jokowi’s party is different,” said Airlangga at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Tuesday (19 /3).

Meanwhile, Member of the UN Human Rights Committee (CCPR) from Senegal, Bacre Waly Ndiaye, questioned President Jokowi’s neutrality in the 2024 elections, at the UN Human Rights Committee Session on the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) which took place in Geneva, Switzerland, 12 March.

Ndiaye started the question by touching on the decision of the Indonesian Constitutional Court regarding changes to the age requirements for presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

“The campaign was held after a last-minute ruling that changed the conditions for nomination, allowing the president’s son to run,” he said, in a hearing broadcast on the UN Web TV website.

He then asked what steps were being implemented in Indonesia to ensure that state officials, including the president, could not exert excessive influence on the implementation of elections.
