Speaking on this occasion, Michelle Mason from the NGO “Safety and Security Instructional Services” stressed that this open-air death camp controlled by the armed separatist militia of the “Polisario” is the epicenter of child soldiers, noting that in these camps , children are used as human shields.
“For more than forty-nine years, the +polisario+ has created an environment that favors the recruitment of child soldiers,” she was indignant during a session of the UN Commission held on Tuesday.
As part of this disastrous maneuver, the school becomes “the main place where students learn by repeating the mantras of hatred dictated to them by their training agents” in the Tindouf camps, she said, while urging the international community to rise up against this reality where children “learn to be victims and to hate” and are manipulated by separatists with unhealthy motivations.
To put an end to this suffering and allow these children to return to a normal life, Ms. Mason called for the implementation of the Moroccan autonomy plan which stands out for its credibility and for the enormous opportunities it offers to the populations. of the southern provinces of the Kingdom.
For his part, Carroll Eds, of the NGO “Capitol Hill Prayer Partners” deplored the lack of prospects for these children and young people who continue to suffer abuses at the hands of the leaders of the separatist movement.
She also denounced the blackout exercised by these armed militias who still refuse to carry out the registration and census of the populations sequestered in the Tindouf camps.
The solution to this situation inevitably involves the autonomy plan presented by Morocco in 2007, she insisted, stressing that this initiative would make it possible in particular to dismantle these camps which serve as relays to keep the populations sequestered in poverty and dismay.
Along the same lines, Amanda DiCianni of the NGO “Rescue and Relief International” spoke out against the “climate of fear and insecurity” which lurks in the Tindouf camps, noting that the absence of security measures and transparency in these camps has given rise to large-scale corruption.
To put an end to these “deplorable” living conditions caused by years of stormy promises and narrow calculations, the petitioner stressed the urgency of joining the irreversible international dynamic in favor of the Moroccan autonomy plan. This plan would constitute the most humane, rapid and peaceful solution possible to this problem, she argued.
Same story with Maksym Hart of the NGO “Mission Point Community Church” who warned of the deplorable situation of children in the Tindouf camps, where they are deprived of their most basic right to a healthy and beneficial education. .
For her, it is high time to implement the autonomy plan, which remains “the best solution for the future of children in the camps”. This initiative would reunite these children with their friends and family members who live in peace and serenity in the southern provinces of the Kingdom, she said.
In turn, Suzanne Goebel and Guilia Peace respectively from the NGOs “On Purpose” and “Il Cenacolo” called for the registration and census of the populations sequestered in the Tindouf camps, as recommended by the UN High Commission for refugees and relevant provisions of international humanitarian law and Security Council resolutions.
This measure could reverse the instability and chaos created by the separatists who manipulate the sequestered populations for their benefit, indicated Ms. Goebel, stressing that the Moroccan autonomy plan is the “most credible and reliable” solution for put an end to the ordeal that these populations have suffered in these camps for 49 years.
In the same vein, Donna Sams, of Antioch Community Church, denounced the undivided control exercised by the leadership of the separatist movement over the Tindouf camps, noting that the lack of surveillance in these camps “results in ill-treatment, corruption and massive misappropriation of humanitarian aid at all levels of distribution, by the leaders of the “polisario” and their families.
Contrary to this situation of fear which reigns in the Tindouf camps, the populations of the southern provinces of the Kingdom enjoy the fullness of their rights and manage their own affairs autonomously, she maintained.
