The Second India-Nordic Summit in Denmark called for the restructuring of the United Nations to deal more effectively with modern-day problems. Ukraine called for “UN reform” in the context of the war and called for a change in the Security Council. The demand was made in a joint statement issued by the Prime Ministers of India, Finland, Iceland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark after the summit.

‘Condemns Russian invasion of Ukraine and the killing of civilians there. We must ensure that the world order based on the UN Charter and international law continues. To this end, the UN and the Security Council must be made more effective and transparent.

More cooperation should be ensured, including in epidemic prevention. The World Trade Organization must also be modernized, ‘the statement said. Other countries participating in the summit expressed support for India’s demand for stability in the Security Council.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Heads of State attending the Summit and discussed ways to ensure cooperation in various fields. Earlier, he met with Queen Margaret of Denmark. After the summit, Modi will hold talks with President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.
