UN Secretary General António Guterres welcomes the joint statement of the “nuclear five”, reports TASS.

“The Secretary General appreciates the recognition by the nuclear powers of the need to adhere to their multilateral and bilateral obligations on non-proliferation, disarmament and arms control, including the obligations under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons in terms of nuclear disarmament,” said UN Secretary General Representative Stefan in a statement Dujarrik.

We will remind that earlier the leaders of Russia, China, USA, Great Britain and France made a joint statement. It notes that there can be no winners in a nuclear war, and nuclear weapons – as long as they continue to exist – must serve defensive purposes, deter aggression and prevent war.
