UN: “Torture and ill-treatment of half of Russian prisoners” – VP News – ‘forbidden to speak’

by time news

CAbout half of Russian POWs held in Ukraine were subjected to torture and ill-treatment. This was announced by the head of the United Nations High Commission (see here:

The United Nations noted that Ukraine has not initiated criminal cases against its soldiers who shot Russian POWs, although several executions are documented.

We have seen above that with regard to the executions of prisoners, both sides have been guilty of this type of crime. For the Russian side, mostly by PMC Wagner. However, I can say that it lacks the circumstances of these executions.

In this regard, without ever justifying the executions of prisoners, I point out that there are circumstances in which it is very difficult to take prisoners. This happens in the case of raiders who carry out actions behind enemy lines or saboteurs who have designated targets and act in small numbers, when instead the surrendered are in greater numbers. Obviously, in these cases it would be necessary to immobilize and disarm the prisoners and leave, leaving them in place. But what happens on the field I believe is also consequent to what is taught in courses in various Western military schools and this should be clarified.

In addition to executions, the UN report deals with the problem of torture and the isolation of prisoners. And the ill-treatment and torture reported by half of Russian prisoners is equally unacceptable.
