UN: world must prepare for more intense heat waves

The UN warned this Tuesday (18) that the world should prepare for more intense heat waves, at a time when several regions of the northern hemisphere are registering extreme temperatures, which cause fires and threaten the health of the population.

“These events will continue to grow in intensity and the world needs to prepare for more intense heat waves,” said John Nairn, extreme heat expert at the UN-affiliated World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
