Today, Thursday, the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA) praised the outcomes of the extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation countries regarding the continuing Zionist aggression against the Palestinian people, which was held at the headquarters of the Organization’s General Secretariat in Jeddah.
The Acting Director General of the Union, Mohammed bin Abd Rabbo Al-Yami, stated that “the contents of the resolution issued by the meeting confirmed the condemnation of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization’s countries for what civilians are being exposed to in the besieged Gaza Strip and the entire occupied Palestinian territories,” calling for “an immediate and unconditional ceasefire of the aggression.” Comprehensive attack on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
He pointed to “the Council’s emphasis on the importance of supporting the media monitoring unit emanating from the recent extraordinary joint Arab and Islamic summit, in order to exercise its duties in monitoring all violations of international humanitarian law committed by the Zionist entity.”
He pointed out that “the meeting reflects the keenness of the headquarters country and chair of the Islamic Summit, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the member states of the organization to support the Palestinian cause and support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, most notably the establishment of their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
Al-Yami expressed his gratitude for the session’s praise for the outcomes of the International Forum (Media and its Role in Fueling Hatred and Violence: The Dangers of Misinformation and Bias), which was organized by the Union in cooperation with the General Secretariat for Institutional Communication of the Muslim World League on November 26, 2023 in Jeddah, and included a special topic. On “Bias and Misinformation in the International Media: The Palestinian Issue as an Example,” noting that “the forum comes within the framework of the Union’s efforts to activate the media’s role in championing the Palestinian issue.”
