Through social media, the Faculty of Medicine shared a statement indicating that the Basic Sciences Coordination received two documents from 1st and 2nd year students to announce that they held votes to begin an indefinite strike.
The students point to the director of the
Faculty of Medicine
as the main promoter of the changes that threaten justice and respect for their rights as university students, which are related to the evaluation to be applied for the current academic cycle.

Furthermore, it stated that forums will continue to be held for analysis and discussion to improve the evaluation processes.

What are the evaluation guidelines of the Faculty of Medicine?
According to the document published in the
UNAM Gazette
, the changes in the evaluation of the Medical Surgeon aim to:
- Promote that students see their academic competence reflected in the final grade through appropriate and equitable evaluation processes.
- Encourage academic improvement of students through feedback.
- Utilize evaluation results to enhance the educational process.
Additionally, a subject will be considered completed if the student has at least 80% attendance and/or submits the assignments, projects, or mandatory practices determined by the department of the subject.
By meeting these requirements, the student will be entitled to take the partial or ordinary exams, as applicable. If the requirements are not met, it will be considered that the subject is not completed, and it will be noted as NP (“No Presented”) in the records, and the student will only be able to pass the subject through a special exam or by retaking it, if applicable, depending on the case.
