At 1:30 p.m. several hundred people gathered on the parade ground for an unauthorized demonstration in connection with International Women’s Day. The Zurich city police announced over loudspeakers that a demonstration through Bahnhofstrasse would not be tolerated. Even before the participants set off towards Bleicherweg shortly after 2.30 p.m., masked people from the crowd carried out their first spraying. The demonstration then marched via Bleicherweg – Stockerstrasse – Selnaustrasse to the Stauffacher Bridge. From there we continued through Bäckerstrasse – Glasmalergasse – Müllerstrasse – Kasernenstrasse –militarystrasse – Langstrasse to Stauffacherstrasse. At the intersection of Langstrasse and Stauffacherstrasse, the demonstrators set fire to an airplane model they had brought with them and stayed there for several minutes before gathering at Helvetiaplatz for the final rally. The demonstration broke up there around 4:30 p.m. On the parade route there were various sprayings on house facades and pyrotechnic objects were occasionally set off. Specialists from the Zurich City Police have begun an investigation into the damage to property. In this context, the Zurich city police arrested a 27-year-old Turkish woman and took her to a police station for further investigation.
