ABU DHABI: Last year, Dubai Police said that 1,195 vehicles were seized for illegally changing the engine of vehicles and causing noise pollution due to excessive noise. The Dubai Police General Command revealed that 4,533 vehicles were fined for such offences. This was disclosed in a press conference held at the Dubai Police General Headquarters under the leadership of Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic.

Dubai Police said that passengers, children, the elderly and the sick are adversely affected due to excessive noise rather than the actual sound of the vehicles. Brigadier bin Suwaidan emphasized that Dubai Police patrols are active throughout the emirate.

Since the beginning of 2023, 250 vehicles have been seized so far. 327 motorists were fined for illegal engine modifications, 19 vehicles were impounded and 230 fined for noise pollution.

Brigadier Bin Suwaidan urged parents to monitor the way young people drive and educate them about the consequences if they break the law. He emphasized that family involvement in traffic safety efforts and working with the police to maintain a safe and peaceful society is of utmost importance.
