VIPITENO. During the summer season, the Carabinieri of the Vipiteno Company intensified checks on the main mountain passes of the Alta Val d’Isarco, with the aim of ensuring road safety in this mountain area, which is particularly busy during the summer season. The checks mainly involved weekends, culminating in a significant intervention that led to the identification of a unauthorized race between two vehicles.
During a check at the Brenner Pass, in fact, the military radiomobile saw two high-powered cars speeding along the SS12 state road at a very high speed, estimated at 150 km/h. The intentions of the two drivers were clear, as they had evidently arranged to meet for a speed challenge. Both participants were heavily fined for several violations of the Highway Code and for having seriously endangered road safety. The fines imposed amount to 1200 euros per person as well as the suspension of the driving license.
Since the beginning of the summer season, on the Pennes, Giovo and Brenner passes, the Carabinieri have carried out 43 sanctions to the Highway Code for speeding on a total of 53 violations disputed. They were 140 vehicles checked, including 70 motorcycles. Overall, the checks were largely successful, helping to ensure the safety of residents and tourists in the area.
The Carabinieri urge all drivers to respect the Highway Code and report dangerous behavior. Road safety is an absolute priority, especially in mountain areas where conditions can be unpredictable. The military will continue to monitor the situation in the coming months, ensuring their presence on the territory and collaborating with other law enforcement agencies to ensure a safe and peaceful summer for everyone.
