With Sri Lanka high on the agenda for the upcoming September session of the UN Human Rights Council, the Sri Lankan government has reportedly lifted the ban on diaspora organizations and prominent individuals of diaspora organizations in response to the session as well as moves to counter international pressure.

It is suspected that this move has been taken to create the impression that reconciliation and reconciliation activities are being promoted in Sri Lanka.
