Uncertainty over judicial reform halted nearshoring: Coparmex

The Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) assured that large investments for nearshoring They are detained due to the legal uncertainty generated by a judicial reform in the country.

Jose Medina Mora Icazastressed the importance of preserving a judicial system that guarantees swift and secure justice in order not to lose foreign investment.

“At this time there are great opportunities derived from the relocation process (nearshoring), validated projects with authorized financing, which are stopped by the legal uncertainty caused by the possible approval of a Judicial Reform“, he stressed.

Medina Mora said that “what we have been told is that if Mexico participates in the election of judges, magistrates and ministers by popular vote, these investments will be stopped. That is what worries us.”

He criticized that foreign direct investment is practically reinvestment of profits and there is very little fresh investment, and we have to provide legal certainty for it to arrive, he insisted.

Coparmex opened three forums on the initiative of Reform to the Judicial Branch organized by the business center of Coparmex Mexico Cityin collaboration with the National Bar Association.
