Title: Customers in Israel Face Uncertainty Over Tesla Model 3 Deliveries

Subtitle: Tax Increase and Production Changes Adds to Confusion

Date: [Current Date]

Tesla Model 3 customers in Israel are facing uncertainty regarding their vehicle deliveries, according to an investigation conducted by Globes. The delivery dates listed on Tesla’s website show variations between October and January depending on the vehicle version, leaving customers unsure about which generation they will receive. Additionally, the impending increase in the purchase tax on electric vehicles from 20% to 35% in January 2024 is adding further ambiguity to the pricing of Tesla models.

Tesla has not officially revealed any details about the new generation Model 3, making it difficult for customers to determine the specifications of the vehicle they will be receiving. Unlike most car manufacturers, Tesla does not have “production to stock” and produces vehicles only after receiving orders. The delivery time of the vehicles is estimated until the shipment departs on a ship.

In Israel, the uncertainty is compounded by Tesla’s history of not absorbing tax increases and instead updating prices according to the rate of the tax difference. However, in the previous round of purchase tax increases in January 2023, Tesla initially increased prices but later lowered them again.

Furthermore, sources in China claim that Tesla is expected to halt production of the current generation Model 3 at its factory in the country in August to prepare for mass production of the new generation in September. The new model is rumored to include design changes, upgrades in the passenger cabin, chassis, range, and battery technology.

This uncertainty surrounding Model 3 deliveries comes at a time when the Israeli market is witnessing the launch of other electric vehicles. BYD’s Dolphin electric family car, with a range of up to 427 km, has been introduced with prices starting at approximately NIS 142,000. The Dolphin offers a rich standard equipment level and comes with a full warranty of six years or up to 150,000 kilometers on the vehicle.

On the regulatory front, the Ministry of Energy is examining the tightening of supervision and regulation of public charging stations for electric vehicles in Israel, following similar developments in the UK and Europe. The aim is to ensure high standards of customer service and address common issues in the charging infrastructure, such as station faults, accessibility, and charging rate discrepancies.

In the near future, the Chery brand is expected to launch plug-in hybrid versions of the Chery Tigo 8 and Chery Tigo 7 in Israel, alongside the electric version of the OMODA crossover. These models are currently undergoing European standardization and are projected to be available in Israel in 2024.

As the electric vehicle market continues to evolve, customers in Israel are eagerly awaiting clarity from Tesla and other manufacturers regarding deliveries, pricing, and the future of electric mobility in the country.
