In a statement to the press following his talks with the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, the DG of FAO praised the Kingdom’s experience in different vital areas and sectors, including agriculture, maritime fishing and forestry, saying he was delighted with his visit to the Kingdom to learn about its achievements.

In this regard, he praised the projects and expertise developed in Morocco, highlighting the constant efforts made by the government, particularly in terms of strengthening agricultural and food systems at the national and African levels.

This meeting, he said, is intended to be an opportunity to create new prospects for cooperation between FAO and Morocco in the agricultural and food fields, expressing the will of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. agriculture to deepen relationships of partnership and cooperation in different areas of common interest towards new promising perspectives.

Held in the presence of Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohamed Sadiki, this meeting is part of Mr. Dongyu’s visit to Morocco on the occasion of the 33rd session of the FAO Regional Conference for Africa (ARC33), which takes place from April 18 to 20 in Rabat.

The UN official is on a working visit to the Kingdom, as part of ARC33 bringing together 54 delegations, including more than 40 led by African Ministers of Agriculture, to define priorities with the FAO for the next two years, in the aim of achieving transformative and sustainable change in agri-food systems across the continent.

It should be recalled that Morocco holds the presidency of the FAO Regional Conference for Africa for two consecutive years.
