Under the leadership of HM the King, Morocco is establishing itself as a “model of progress” and a “force for peace” (Samantha Power)

Washington – Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, has become a “model of progress” and a “crucial force for peace and development” in the Middle East and North Africa region, said U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Samantha Power.

“Over the past 25 years, His Majesty the King has made Morocco a model of progress,” through structural reforms and large-scale projects that cover different areas of development, Ms. Power stressed in a message on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Sovereign’s accession to the Throne of His glorious Ancestors.

This forward-looking vision has helped, according to the American official, to develop the education sector, to stimulate economic growth and to modernize infrastructure, while giving substance to major political reforms.

The USAID Administrator further noted that Royal leadership is also evident in the “pioneering work” that Morocco is doing in terms of energy transition, noting that the Kingdom now has the capacity to produce more than a third of its electricity from renewable sources, with the aim of increasing this percentage to 52% by 2030.

This ambition makes Morocco a “leader” in clean energy, not only in the region, but throughout the world, she stressed.

These achievements are just one facet of the efforts that His Majesty the King is undertaking to ensure Moroccan citizens a “brighter” future that is based on the benefits of innovation and the power of hope, concluded Ms. Power.
