DECRYPTION – The clinical examination is not always necessary in consultation with the gynecologist. Knowing the different situations helps to better prepare for visits.
Do you dread going to the gynecologist? Are you worried about being examined? And for good reason ; this examination may include palpation of the breasts, inspection of the genital apparatus, placement of a speculum, vaginal or even rectal examination. In this, the gynecological consultation is different: getting naked in the proper sense of the term, renouncing the time of an appointment to your privacy… This vulnerability, caregivers are supposed to take into account. But we have to believe that not everyone was up to it since, for the record, the hashtag #PayeTonUtérus on social networks has generated thousands of patient testimonials on inappropriate words, abrupt gestures or examinations without consent. The expression “gynecological violence” was launched.
