jpnn.comJAKARTA – Celebrity Jessica Iskandar chose PGT-A technology to reduce the risk of babies being born with chromosomal abnormalities.

Chromosomal abnormalities are genetic conditions that occur due to errors in cell division, during the process of sperm or egg formation.

As a result, babies can be born with an abnormal number of chromosomes which can cause various congenital diseases, such as Down syndrome.

“I used PGT-A technology in the IVF program. Together with my husband – Vincent Verhaag, I underwent the IVF process at Morula IVF Surabaya to ensure that the implanted embryos were free from the risk of chromosomal abnormalities,” explained Jessica Iskandar, Wednesday (18/9).

After several failed attempts to conceive naturally, Jessica and Vincent chose PGT-A technology to increase the chances of success of their pregnancy program.

Of the five embryos produced, the healthiest one was selected and successfully implanted, while the others were stored for the future.

“At first I was a bit worried, but after the doctor explained the process, I was sure this was the right path. The process was painless and went smoothly,” said Jessica about her experience undergoing IVF with PGT-A.

Morula IVF Surabaya obgyn doctor, Benediktus Arifin MPH SPOG (K), FICS explained that chromosomal abnormalities can cause various health problems in babies, such as delayed physical and mental development, as well as birth defects.
