There are 6.5 thousand unemployed officially registered in Udmurtia. This is almost five times less than it was in August 2020. Such data were reported by the vice-premier of the government of the region Konstantin Suntsov.

“In August 2020, we had a peak unemployment rate of 30,000 people. In a year and a half, it decreased to 6.5 thousand. The Republic managed to overcome the “peak” value of unemployment in 2020 and reach the pre-pandemic level. Many of the unemployed went into small and medium-sized businesses and self-employed. In 2021, the number of self-employed in our country increased from 9 thousand to 33.1 thousand. We can say that in Udmurtia today there are no problems with unemployment, ”udm-info.ru quotes Suntsov.

According to him, the average salary in the region for 11 months of 2021 increased by 7% compared to the same period in 2020.

The maximum increase in the number of unemployed – twice – was recorded in the pandemic 2020 in St. Petersburg and Moscow, and in Tuva, Novgorod and Tomsk regions, their number increased by more than 1.5 times. This is stated in the report of the Accounts Chamber. In 23 regions, the increase in the number of unemployed ranged from 30 to 40%, in 38 – from 10 to 30%, and in 17 – less than 10%. Against the general background, the Altai Territory stands out, where the number of unemployed in 2020 even decreased (-1.4%) and the Smolensk Region, in which their number has not changed.

The Ministry of Labor told Izvestia that the labor market in Russia as a whole returned to pre-pandemic levels. According to Rosstat, unemployment in November 2021 remained at 4.3%, as in October, and the total number of unemployed was 3.2 million.
