NEW DELHI: In May last year, the country’s overall unemployment rate was 7.12 percent, which rose to 7.80 percent in June, according to the Economic Observatory of India.
The decline in employment in rural areas has led to an increase in the overall unemployment rate. For urban areas, the unemployment rate has decreased from 8.21 percent to 7.30 percent.
Regarding this, Dr Nithyanand, Director of Social Development Council, said: “It is usual for unemployment to increase during the sowing season of the Kharif season from June to October.” At the same time, the decrease in urban unemployment is a positive aspect.
