Speaker at the special interactive session for Youth Ministers, held as part of the 13th edition of the UNESCO Youth Forum, focusing this year on the social impact of climate change and the need to achieve a fair climate transition, Mr. Bensaid highlighted the various initiatives that have been put in place by the Kingdom for the integration and inclusion of young people at the cultural and social, but also economic levels, such as the “Awrach” program and the “youth pass” application.
The minister also underlined that the Kingdom is also strongly committed to climate and environmental action, highlighting Morocco‘s various investments in the fields of wind and solar power.
And to note that this Forum, which constitutes a platform for exchanges between Youth Ministers from different countries and young people, offers young people the opportunity to make their voice heard by those who develop policies.
“The issues are different from one country to another, but are ultimately interconnected, because we live in the same world,” observed the minister.
On the sidelines of this Forum, organized as part of the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference (November 7-22), Mr. Bensaid spoke with the Ethiopian Minister of Women and Social Affairs, Ergoge Tesfaye.
This meeting was an opportunity to reaffirm the desire of both parties to further promote cooperative ties between Morocco and Ethiopia in the cultural and social fields.
The Moroccan delegation participating in the work of this forum, led by the minister, includes, in particular, the Ambassador, permanent representative of the Kingdom to UNESCO, Samir Addahre, the Secretary General of the National Commission for Education, Sciences and Culture, and representatives of the ministries in charge of Foreign Affairs, Youth, Culture and Communication.
The UNESCO Youth Forum is an essential component of the UNESCO Youth Programme. Every two years since 1999, it offers young people a “space for dialogue with each other and with UNESCO and allows them to share their enthusiasm and creativity”.
