The French property company is in the process of building a new part of the city of Hamburg on the banks of the Elbe. Shops, offices and housing will rub shoulders there.

Thirty years ago there was still a vast gas plant along this stretch of the Elbe, which burned coal to supply the terminals of the port of Hamburg. In a year, when the cranes ofUnibail Rodamco Westfield will have left the premises, this former free zone will be less traveled by workers than by wealthy inhabitants, customers who have come to do their shopping there and cruise passengers who have just landed.

In the early 2000s, Hamburg City Hall initiated one of the largest urban renewal projects in Europe. It consisted in moving the industrial port a little further from the center of the city, where the boats would have more room to maneuver. And to build in place of the old port a new district intended to accommodate a constantly growing population. In total, a pharaonic site of 150 hectares.
