The Ministry of Education (MEC), through the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research (INEP), released the scores for the latest edition of Enem. With the grade in hand, candidates will compete to access higher education throughout Brazil. In total, more than 264 thousand places will be offered for entry in the period 2024.1 and 2024.2.

Unilab will offer, in this edition, 1,142 places, distributed across 24 courses, on the Ceará and Bahia campuses. Of the vacancies offered, 616 are for quota-holder candidates in accordance with Law 12,711/2012. With Unilab’s current academic calendar for the year 2024, the first semester will begin at the end of May, while the second semester will be in October 2024.

“For some it will be a long time, but rewarding for the achievement of accessing free and quality higher education”, highlights the Pro-Rector of Undergraduate Studies, professor Thiago Moura.

“Among the different courses, the cut-off score is always a dilemma to access the long-awaited course. It is worth checking the cut-off mark for the course you want in advance to analyze your access conditions. At Unilab you can access the link to analyze the membership agreement that has this information”, recommends the Dean of Undergraduate Studies (Prograd).

Prograd also remembers that the Enem score, used for selection at SiSU, can be used in other Unilab notices, such as the Affirmative Action Notice and notices executed with idle vacancies (SISURE).

If the student wishes to take a course in the humanities area, they can, according to Prograd, “try to be selected directly for the course (if it is available in this edition of SiSU) or enroll in the Interdisciplinary Bachelor’s Course in Humanities and after the three years of training, upon completing the course, be selected for a second course in the area of humanities offered at Unilab, namely: Anthropology, History, Pedagogy, Social Sciences, Sociology and International Relations. With reduced time for this second training.”

Changes according to the MEC:

This year, public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), following the MEC’s decision, will have the option of an edition of SiSU. Many HEIs already implement this (single) membership modality, placing all vacancies in the first edition and classifying candidates enrolled for the first semester and second semester. Unilab was part of the HEIs that shared places for the two editions of SiSU. In total, only 18% of HEIs made this division. This decision will increase the SiSU team’s dedication time for a single edition and move forward with further improvements to the unified selection process.

“Candidates selected for the second semester must persist with their dream of access to university”, says the Dean of Undergraduate Studies. He reinforces that selected candidates who will have a longer break before classes start will be more likely to give up on their dream due to personal and social conditions. “The candidate needs to guarantee access, even if he later needs to retrace his walking route”, reinforces the Pro-Rector.
