The Jenipapo-Kanindé village is known as “the village of the three chiefs”: the leader Cacique Pequena and her daughters, Cacique Jurema (Maria da Conceição, or “Bida”) and Cacique Irê (Juliana Alves, current holder of the unprecedented Secretariat of Peoples Indigenous people of the Government of Ceará – Sepince). And it was through the historic struggle of Pequena and other members of the people that the community received electricity, a dirt road, a school, a health center and a social assistance center. However, the biggest demand even today, in addition to Pequena’s biggest dream, is to see the land fully demarcated and registered “on paper”.
