Professor Violeta Holanda presenting the partial results of the Research Project “Education in Human Rights and Gender: perceptions about sexist violence in the school context”.

The Prof. Dr. Violeta Holanda, from the Anthropology Course, from the Institute of Humanities, from the University of International Integration of Afro-Brazilian Lusofonia (Unilab) participated, from the 5th to the 8th of September 2023, in the XVI International Congress of Anthropology in the city of A Coruña/Spain

According to the event organizers: “Anthropology, as a social science, is a sensitive testimony that, with its diversity of approaches, can contribute to the understanding of problems, to the lifting of the uncertainties that characterize them and to the search for radical, new solutions, answers and solutions. and structural. There is no better time than our XVI Congress, as a place of reunion, in the literal sense, to urgently revisit the old and inextricable questions that now lead us to new crossroads, against the backdrop of a great dilemma: back to when? return to what… and for what? Faced with the inertia of returning to what was so suddenly interrupted, it is time to identify, reflectively, which are the routes, the paths, along which humanity is traveling and know how to recognize them to avoid those that imply unnecessary suffering.” (ASAEE, 2023).

On the occasion, professor Violeta Holanda presented at Symposium 29 – Ethnographies of diversity management: the construction of difference at school, coordinated by María Rubio Gómez and Laia Narciso Pedro, the PARTIAL RESULTS of the Research Project “Education in Human Rights and Gender : perceptions about sexist violence in the school context”.

The teacher also presented the E-book entitled “Women in Science: dialogues on gender and diversity in schools and universities”.

“All of this was only possible thanks to the Unilab/Funcap partnership, through Notice nº 01/2022 – ‘Women in science: support for research projects coordinated by women’”, highlights the professor, who concludes: “It was a very rich moment of exchanging experiences and opportunities for future international cooperation”.

The research, whose partial results were published at this Congress, is being carried out in six high schools in the State of Ceará, which have (and do not have) Gender Centers (NG) in their didactic-pedagogical structure, in addition to two schools in the city of Seville, southern Spain. The schools that have NG already registered with Seduc’s Coordination of Diversity and Educational Inclusion (Codin) are:

Adauto Bezerra School (Stefhani Brito Gender Center); Presidente Roosevelt School (Angela Davis Gender Center)

The three schools that do not have NS are:

EEMTI Senator Osires Pontes (Regional V – Canindezinho); EEFM Dom Antônio de Almeida Lustosa (Regional IV- Edson Queiroz); EEEP Darcy Ribeiro (Junto Esperança).
