November 11, 1975 marked the culmination of an arduous process of fighting for Angola’s independence from Portuguese rule. The date is considered the most important milestone in the imagination of the Angolan people as a whole. This anniversary has been celebrated for 47 years, and this year (11/11/2023) Angola will be celebrating the 48th anniversary of the country’s dipanda (independence).

Bearing in mind the importance of this date for the Angolan people, both in Angola and in the diaspora, the Association of Angolan Students at Unilab/Ce (AEAU-CE) holds the festivities of Angola’s independence at Unilab, between the 8th and 13th November, under the motto: “Angola: towards development, with a focus on education, for the emancipation of society.”

The activities are supported by the Unilab Dean’s Office, the Dean of Institutional and International Relations (Prointer), the Dean of Extension, Art and Culture (Proex), the Dean of Undergraduate Studies (Prograd), of the Dean of Research and Postgraduate Studies (Proppg) and the Dean of Affirmative and Student Policies (Propae).

The Angolan independence festivities at Unilab/Ce aim to promote – through the organization of debates, conversation circles, cultural activities – reflection on the importance of dipanda for Angolanity and for the construction of a better country for all Angolans , as well as sharing with the academic community at Unilab the need to create and consolidate a patriotic spirit today.
